‘Dear Jacinda’

Dear Jacinda

The issue that concerns me is the water because my uncle was telling me a story about his friend that died from eating fish. The reason they died because at every high tide the human waste would be dumped into the water, and they would go fishing at that time because the fish would come and eat the human waste. His friend died from cancer though, but if he didn't die from cancer he would of died from the boils that grew in his body because of the fish. I think what you could do to help is to either tell people not to fish there because of the human waste or just stop the human waste from entering water ways.

Sincerely, Zhynaliyah

  1. Kia ora Zhynaliyah,

How's your day going? I hope you're enjoying this warm weather. It makes me really want to go for a swim, it's so hot!

I think you've raised a very valid issue in your letter to Jacinda Ardern. That's awful that human waste was being dumped in the water, and you're right about it being dangerous. I think your suggestion to stop human waste entering water ways is a great idea.

It is so important for us to protect and look after the environment, kaimoana, and ourselves. So well done on choosing to write about an important issue!

    Ngā mihi,
    Tayla
