Everyday Heroes

For this activity I have to brainstorm at least five ways I could support the people who are affected by the fires in New South Wales, Australia.

Leading by Example

For this activity I have to do a random act of kindness and the explain how it made me feel and the other person and what I did.

My random act of kindness is picking up rubbish. In the weekend I went to the shop and while I was waiting for my friend to get what she wanted. Then the wind blew one of the rubbish bins over so I picked up the rubbish while everyone just watch me. I don't think I would of done that because everyone was just watching. just then I thought you know this is good for the ocean. After that the shop keeper thank me for what I did and said that was really nice of me to do that and I walked home. It made me feel good because I did two things stopped the rubbish from going into the ocean and

school strike for climate

for this activity I have to go to this site school strike and write three thing that I have learnt from reading this.

I learnt that Climate change is one of the biggest problems facing the world.

I learnt that coal and gas are somethings that causes global warming.

I learnt that politics are stupid if they don't want to help with climate change because that is our future and there acting like its nothing if they have to take a day of school just to tell them.

Influences

For this activity I have to imagine that I had the chance to create my own YouTube channel. I have to include What it would be about and what kinds of videos would I would create and post.
If I created a you tube channel it would be about how to save the environment and things you can make out of rubbish I chose this because I hate seeing rubbish in the ocean and in the water.

Wise Words

For this activity, I have to identify someone in my life who is a role model to me. I have to ask them to share one piece of wisdom with me that they think me and my blog readers should hear.
This is what she said ''Don't ever have high expectations for someone you love"
like me I always think my mum is going to get over her addictions but I always get disappointed and she never does so that what it means.

“I Have a Dream”

For this activity I have to describe the problem about the black women and men suffered in America and what Rosa Parks did about the problem and how other people reacted.

The problem was that ever where the black and white kids weren't suppose to be together and Rosa Parks didn't care until one day she got sick of it because she was siting on a chair and then the bus driver said can you please move for the white person and then she said "no".  as a result she got sent to jail for not following the law everyone was shock for what she did. Soon they started to realise that it was not fair so the black people stopped going on the bus. The government soon noticed that the numbers were low for the bus in result of this they took that law away.

The Right to Vote

For this activity, I can pick any women to replace Kate Sheppard on the $10 note and why I pick them so here it is

If it was me I wouldn't change it because what she did was outgoing and so thoughtful because if she didn't do what she did it would be so unfair. Just cause we are woman doesn't mean we can't do what men can do. I don't see why there is any reason to change the picture, there might be so other woman who deserve it to but that is just my thought about it.

Guiding Principles

For this activity, I have to create a poster about one of seven whakatauki. I chose the one I did because I like really like what it means in English here is my poster.

if you want to see the license just click on this link and you will see it on my google drawing

Belle of the Ball

For this activity, I have to chose a book that I like and write a short review of it. In the review, I have to tell you what the book is about and what I like about it.

so my book I am writing about is the lorax.

The book is about the trees and the environment and if we don't take responsibility of the trees and the environment it is going to be like the one that the lorax left behind.

What I liked about it is the rhyming and the pictures.

The Right to an Education

For this activity, I have to write a short story. The story can be about anything that I wish so I choose to write it about a surfer and the perfect view hope you like it!!!

I sit on the scorching yellow sugar with my ancient like towel. The blue liquid in front of me is so astonishing but also so deadly. I feel like if I go I might not ever want to come back. It so peaceful were I lay dreaming about the possibility of what could happen if I touched the liquid. The crash of the waves makes me shiver with excitement. I grab the board next to me and race to the liquid not knowing what will happen next. The majestic water shimmers off the gold slow falling speck in the sky.

There it is the perfect wave. As the wave approaches me my hands start to rattle with fear, all of these thoughts come to my mind like, “what will happen if I miss it, or what will happen if I don’t catch it right”. There was no time to think about that too much, The wave was right behind me.

I hesitate as I turn around, as the wave lifts me up my stomach starts to drop and my heart starts racing. With concern I push myself up, when I drop the wave topples over the top of me. The beautiful view in front of me is so overwhelming and so splendid. I arrive at the end of the wave, and the feeling inside of me is so phenomenal that I just sit on my board to cherish the marvellous and superb view. Ever since then I have always visited that beach.

‘Dear Jacinda’

Dear Jacinda

The issue that concerns me is the water because my uncle was telling me a story about his friend that died from eating fish. The reason they died because at every high tide the human waste would be dumped into the water, and they would go fishing at that time because the fish would come and eat the human waste. His friend died from cancer though, but if he didn't die from cancer he would of died from the boils that grew in his body because of the fish. I think what you could do to help is to either tell people not to fish there because of the human waste or just stop the human waste from entering water ways.

Sincerely, Zhynaliyah

Own Choice

I have the chance to choose my very own sportsperson or explorer who I think has changed the world. I pick Hekenukumai busby because he really inspires me. Hekenukumai was one of the people who brought celestial navigation back to New Zealand, but he past away 11 may 2019 and was born on 1st August 1932. He is from Pukepoto, Kaitaia. He and papa Mau made Te Aurere and Hekenukumai made Ngahirakamaitawhiti. He has sailed the pasific triangle and to many other places.
bye that is all I have for you today blog you later.

AGAINST THE ODDS

For this activity, I am going to tell you 3 things that are important to me and why.

Worth her Weight in Gold

For this activity I have to imagine that I was asked to create a travel brochure for Tonga or a country that is important to me. On the brochure I have to, include lots of great tips about what to see and do in the country. So here it is

INDIVIDUAL PURSUITS

For this activity I had to say three things that I learned from watching these videos, as well as one thing I would still like to know. I learnt that girls get payed less than boy in tennis. I learnt that in 2005 Venus won Wimbledon in what was the longest woman's final in history. I also learnt that Serena has Earned over $80m during her career. my question I still want to learn about is why male athletes earn more that woman athletes?

here is the license

What’s in a Name?

for this activity I would imagine I can change my name to anything and why I would choose that name.

If I could change my name to anything I would change it to, Yuluvae because it is I love you backwards. It is spelt differently though, so yu and luv is actually you and love just shortened. Ae is I just in maori. I would chose this because that is always the last thing my mum tells me every time we call or see each other. I also like this because it's different and unique just like my name Zhynaliyah. I don't really want to change my name though I love my name.

One Small Step for Man

For this activity I had to imagine I was Neil Armstrong and write a poem. I chose to write an acrostic poem because they are easy and I don't know how to do any others.

The ground is like sand
Hesitating about the results
Excited

Magnificent view of Earth
Over view of the moon is amazing
Over whelming
Not that much sun

Miracle on the Hudson

For this activity I had to recount a time when someone else I know did something brave.
One day my family and I went to a beach in Pataua south for a swim and the waves were giant. I wanted to go for a swim but I was only 9 but I still went anyway. One big wave came and crashed on top of me and I went under the water I couldn't swim either. But on the beach there was my 17 year old cousin, he came in and he saved me putting his own life at risk and I thought that was really amazing and heroic of him.

Discovering Aotearoa

I am now doing Discovering Aotearoa so I don't really know my culture because I was never brought up with my mum or dad so I am going to talk about my culture background up until 4 years ago. I say for years ago because the person who help me learn new things about myself I only just meet 4 years ago and that is my aunty Jo. So my aunty taught me how to hoe a waka she also taught me how to navigate using the stars. The most important thing though she taught me though is how to respect other people and that everyone is different and to never give up if you fail. That is my four year background. I am from Mangakahia my marae and some of my whanau are out there. I love it there.

Rugby Superstars

I wanted to do this activity because I was bored and I wasn't doing anything. For this activity I am going to be picking 3 superpowers and explain why I would want them and How would I use the power.

  1. Super speed because being able to go really fast is cool. I would use this power to save people from like tsunami and from other dangers like landslides, falling buildings, gunshots, earthquakes, volcanoes, and other things.
  2. Strong so I can make sure I can carry everybody while I am saving them, so I can pick up the buildings as well so it doesn't fall on people, also so I can show up other people by lifting weights.
  3. The other power I would want is teleportation so if I am not fast enough to get there in time I can just teleport to there. It would also be cool because instead of running I could just teleport there while still sitting down

Defying the Odds

I am also going to do if I had a chance to interview a basketball player. I am going to choose LeBron James because, I don't know any other basketball players.

Achieving our Dreams

So today I chose to write about my friends dream job and 6 way I can make it happen. I asked my friend what her dream job would be and she said a veterinary here is the 6 ways I could help her get that.
  1. Help her fund-raise the money to go
  2. Help get accepted
  3.  Help her study
  4. Make sure she doesn't give up or fail because of bad influences
  5. Help her graduate
  6. Find someone how needs a veterinary
Those would be the 6 ways to help her become a veterinary. I would actually really like to do this for her when she grows up because she is one of my best friends.

Scaling New Heights

So I also chose to find one charity and talk about what they do. I learnt that they help any animals not just peoples pets. The reason why I chose to talk about the SPCA was because I love animals and I actually never knew they were a charity. So here is what they do.

So the SPCA help the animals that so desperately need it, and bring justice to those who have failed the animals before they get to the SPCA.

There inspectors work to uphold the laws relating to the care of animals and brings action where needed. At there animal centers they give shelter to animals in pain and re-home fitting animals whenever possible.

Flying Solo

HI today I chose to learn about Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart. I learnt that Amelia was the first to woman to fly solo. My favorite part about doing this was learning about Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart's life. I had to name the similarities and differences of both of these two woman.

Setting Sail

kia ora this is the first activity for the summer learning journey. I learnt that someone has actually sailed around the whole world on a waka haurua before. I also learnt that they use the clouds to navigate I never knew they did that. For the activity I did I had to write down what 10 foods I would take on a long waka voyage and why, here they are.

This week we have been doing the summer learning Journey teasers. We had to do a profile on Lorde or your pepeha or draw the BFG I chose to do the profile for Lorde. I learnt that Lorde is from New Zealand and that she is only 23. What I could do better next time is to read the instructions properly instead of annoying everybody else. What I think I did well was, when I finally got it I did my work and didn’t talk to anyone else. I enjoyed learning new things about lorde and understanding how the Summer Learning Journey works.

Thursday

On the Thursday when we were in Wellington we went to the Westpac Stadium. Some of the rooms at the Westpac Stadium had amazing views. I learnt that it only took them 20 months to make the Westpac stadium. On Thursday night we went to Zelandia. We had to be really quiet but we weren’t that quiet. We got to see two tuatara they were smaller than I thought, we also got to see two cave wetas. Cave wetas are so big and they look really ugly. We seen huge spiders they were enormous. My favourite thing was the glow worms because, it was my first time I had ever seen glow worms.

Wednesday

On the Wednesday when we were in Wellington we went to the Beehive. First we went into a small room it was called the Mini Debating Chamber. We talked about why they set up the chairs like how they did. There was two side the Opposition and the Government. I learnt that the Prime Minister sits four seats away from the Speaker in the front row because, they say it has the best view of the Speaker. We also went into the real Debating Chamber, I also learnt that the Queen can’t go past the change of carpet at the front door. I enjoyed being able to go into the real Debating Chamber and being able to be inside the Parliament House.

first day

The first day we were in Wellington we went to Te Papa. When we got to Te Papa the first thing we explored was the Gallipoli war section. My favourite part was the giants because they looked so realistic. After that we went to go see the colossal squid. It was  smaller than I expected. Next we checked out the volcano area we went in an earthquake simulator house. It was like I was in a real earthquake. When we finished at Te Papa we went to the Zoo. The first that happened when we got to the Zoo, our tour guide chose 6 people to dress up and be different people that work at the Zoo e.g The Doctor, The Manager, The Zoo Keeper and more. Then we went to where food is prepared for the  animals. I learnt that they spend $15,000 just on a week of food.

camp

Last week the year 7 and 8’s went to Wellington for camp. I enjoyed going to Te Papa and seeing the gallipoli giants. I learnt that the Queen can’t go into the Debating Chamber. The thing that challenged me was trying to always keep up with my group. We stayed at Te Herenga Waka Marae at Mt Victoria University. Everyday we would go to at least 2 new places. It was cool that we only had to pay $50 for a $17,000 dollar trip, and our principal organised it all.

athletics

We have athletics soon. I have been learning to use and hold a discus properly. I use to hold the discus like a Frisbee but now I hold it properly. I enjoyed seeing myself improving every time. What I found challenging was trying to make the discus fly smooth and not flip in the air. What I did well was every time I didn’t do it right I would keep on trying and not give up. What I could do better next time is listen the whole time and not muck around with my friends.

water safety

Last Thursday Te Ngahere had a special visit from Tracey. Tracey is in a group that tries to insure that kids and adults are safe in the water. She explained how to stay safe on a boat and how to stay safe at the beach. I learnt how to figure out where rips are and how to identify them. Now I know how to identify rip and I will always be mindful for rips. What do you think rips look?
